Is DIYing Estrogen Illegal?

Estrogen is not a controlled substance in any country. It doesn’t have any capability to be abused, therefore under law, it’s completely legal to purchase and possess. You aren’t committing any crime by purchasing estrogen.

This also applies to anti-androgens. None of them are controlled substances and are legal to purchase and possess.

What’s the difference between Estrogen Esters? (Ex. Cypionate, Enanthate, Undecylate)

On the site, you will notice different types of testosterone injectables having added suffixes like “Cypionate, Enanthate” at the end. These are called esters. Esters are a byproduct of a chemical reaction called esterification. Esters are added to extend how long a drug continues releasing into your blood stream aswell as improving absorption.

Without esters, the hormone would immediately be absorbed and delivered throughout the body in just a few minutes. Causing an immense spike that will leave as fast as it came. Hormones are slow acting, they take days, weeks and months to finish sending out messages to all the targets within our body, so they need more time. Esters make these drugs usable by extending those few minutes of activity to days, which we can inject at appropriate intervals.

So what’s the difference between these esters?

There are a lot of pharmacokinetic variables that differ between esters. For those who aren’t familiar, pharmacokinetic variables basically means values relating to how the body affects a substance.

Take Half-Life (T 1/2) as an example for this, which represents how many days it takes for a drug to reach 50% of it’s concentration after peak.

For Enanthate and Cypionate, they’re roughly the same, so they utilize the same dosage recommendations. Cypionate has a bit longer Cmax though, which isn’t important.

Undecylate

Undecylate is a special ester, it’s long lasting which allows you to inject in longer intervals. Which is perfect if you want or need to inject less frequently. However, there’s lacking pharmacokinetic research done on this ester in specific, so there’s a background of uncertainty regarding what your levels may be.

Why isn’t estrogen valerate listed on this guide?

Put simply, it’s a bad ester.

Estrogen/estradiol Valerate has the shortest clearance relative to other common esters like Cypionate or Enanthate. Due to this, you would need to inject every 3-5 days to maintain steady levels of estrogen. There’s generally no reason why you would buy Valerate over other formulations available.

Will my package of Estrogen/Anti-Androgens get seized?

Every country has something called customs, they control the transportation of international packages that either leaves or exits the country. They’re also in charge of package security, they analyze packages and make sure there’s nothing illegal in them. Since estrogen is a legal substance, uncontrolled under law, it shouldn’t be seized. Same applies onto anti-androgens.

However, customs in certain countries like Canada and Australia may still seize your HRT regardless. Usually they do not know what the drug is, they simply seize it because it looks shady to them. This happens mostly to packages containing pills/tablets, or packages containing the medicines in large quantities.

However, customs only checks international packages. If you were to buy estrogen/anti-androgens from within your own country, called domestic sourcing, then there is zero chance of your HRT getting seized. Even then, if you buy HRT from a reputable international source there is still a low chance of it getting seized.
